Minimum Wage Boosted 7.3% in 2019

The Adult Minimum Wage was increased $1.20 to $17.70 as of 1 April 2019. This represents an increase of 7.3% over the previous level - the largest yearly percentage increase within the last 12 years.

For an individual working full-time on the minimum wage (40 hours/week), earnings before tax will now be $708/week or $36816/year.

Minimum wage after tax comes to $593/week or $30841/year, excluding benefits for eligible workers.
